Case Study II
Regional Search for Chinese SM
· International Talent
· Success-Only Headhunting Model
· Asia Pacific Market Experience
· Regional Sourcing
We were engaged by a medium-sized creative agency in Shanghai, China in search of bilingual Creative Directors to join their team. Despite engaging a local headhunting firm in Shanghai and advertising within their own local circles, they had not found any candidates that fit the role. After reviewing a multitude of candidates without success, the agency decided to contact our service. We were presented with a list of over 80 profiles that had already been ruled out.
Following a detailed briefing, we accepted the project and went to the market. Within 24 hours, we identified dozens of candidates in the APAC region with the language requirement and desired experience. Our candidates came from smaller local agencies as well as major multinationals. We found candidates in different regions in China, and more interestingly, candidates of Chinese descent who were based abroad but who would repatriate for the role.
After interviewing our wider pool of candidates—which consisted of discussed their motivations for relocating to Shanghai and gathering their compensation expectations—we presented the top five to our client after one week of sourcing. Our client was very impressed by their caliber and proceeded with phone calls with all of them. They hired two of our candidates, who continue to successfully work for our client.

We chose to share this particular case study, to highlight several unique aspects of our process:
— Our ability to conduct searches outside local markets, where talent pools have potentially been exhausted
— Our clients regularly prefer talent that have international experience
— Many candidates living outside their home countries, when approached by a headhunter in the right way, are often open to relocate for the right role
